A climbing plant above all, honeysuckle wonderfully decorates trellises, arbors and fences. Reaching five to six meters high, it is robust and adorns facades for many years. Shrubby, honeysuckle is perfect for forming flowerbeds, low hedges and borders. In a pot, it will please the balcony and the terrace.

Its leaves appearing very early in the year (from March), honeysuckle will be the first to give a touch of greenery to the garden. What we also like about it – apart from its beautiful flowers – is its robustness, its longevity and its resistance to diseases.
Often very fragrant, its tubular flowers produce nectar which attracts insects and birds.

Honeysuckle appreciates temperate climates. In France, it is common in all regions where it grows naturally in woods and hedges. In sun or partial shade, it will also thrive in any type of fertile, well-drained soil. But it cannot tolerate the scorching sun or extreme cold and certain species cannot tolerate temperatures below 5°C.

Delivered in a container, honeysuckle Plants from September to May. Not very demanding in terms of soil, it nevertheless prefers soils rich in humus and retaining a little humidity in summer. Flowering is more abundant in full sun, but this plant easily tolerates more shaded exposures.

Be careful, the honeysuckle grows rapidly and becomes quickly invasive if you don't prune it.

A good compromise is Lonicera japonica 'Halliana', as well as two varieties of honeysuckle woodland: 'Belgica', with numerous white-pink flowers, and 'Serotina', with even more pink flowers, almost white and red. These two varieties bloom from July to September.
